Default How is this Pool Look Achieved

I hope this isn't a dumb question..but I love the design of pools that look 'flat' for a lack of a better word.. like it's just a floating body of water example .

I believe these are known as "Perimeter Overflow" or "Infinity Pools"

    Infinity pools indeed.
If you're house is near and somewhat elevated from the ocean, you build it by having the back lower than the rest of the pool.
As such you cant go around the pool but instead it's like a balcony.

Infinity pools are definitely the best looking. There are two ways of doing it. One way is to have the pool built higher then the rest of the patio / deck. Drainage is installed around the perimeter of the pool so when the water flows over, the water just drains and is replenished. You can also build the pool completely flat if the pool is built where there is a cliff or ledge so the water can flow over and then once again, into a drain. Hope this helps.

I hate having to mess with pool maintenance, but if I lived on the coast an Infinity pool would be to cool to pass up.

You'd need a second mortgage for it.
