Architecture books, specifically
Hi all

Can anyone suggest some books to read, preferably with lots of images.
Basically im really into the case study houses, and especially modern architecture, specifically within the hollywood hills area of LA. Like the houses on Blue Jay Way, Nightingale Drive, etc.
I am in the UK so either need to import from amazon.com or buy on amazon.co.uk
Thanks

Get yourself down to London and get to the RIBA bookshop, or the AA (Architecture Association) bookshop and fill yer boots.
Or, if it's specifically the Case Study you want, the Case Study you can get.
Taschen have just republished the ENTIRE 1945 -1954 run of Arts & Architecture Magazine in a ten box set edition costing £450. CLICKY
John Entenza's Arts & Architecture magazine launched the Case Study Programme, if you want to know all about it, that's what you need!
Taschen have also done a lot of books on individual architects, Neutra, Eames etc.
If you come down to London, or if you are here, then Taschen have a store on the King's Road just down from Sloane Square. Taschen have done more to spread the visual history of design than any other publisher in recent years.2.0 Mugen CRX VT-Turbo.

I've bought a few books through Taschen that are really good. Check out Julius Shulman, he's a legend to me.
These are my favorites currently, some have too many black and white images though imo..
Amazon.com: Julius Shulman, Modernism Rediscovered (9783822842874): Julius Shulman, Hunter Drohojowska-Philp, Owen Edwards, Philip J. Ethington, Peter Loughrey: Books

Agreed, Julius Shulman was the greatest architectural photographer of the time. His photography was as important as the architecture.
Smiley, where do you live? Don't drive in to London if you don't live here! It's a recipe for getting lost, fined, and generally wasting all of your time!
Get the train in from wherever you are, or drive to the outskirts and jump on the tube.
You could also do a lot worse than buy some of the books at the bottom of THIS PAGE especially the Neutra, Shulman and Forgotten Modern ones.2.0 Mugen CRX VT-Turbo.

I live in Cornwall! Drove straight into london at around 3am on a sat morning, didnt realise there was no congestion charge till i got there, i dont use a CC so the signs on the M4 were worrying!
I somehow managed to find the hostel i was staying at (baden powell art deco) in south kensington, I literally asked a guy where it was as i was lost about 30m down the road! Very lucky.
Parked in south hounslow and got the tube in in the day, got sick of people trying to pick my pockets/staring at me on the tube so i picked the car up and found a parking space.
Tried to get from south kensington to a party in Clapham using only road signs, impossible! The only signs are for back on the M4 or into Westminister, if you look on a map you can just drive through chelsea and over a bridge!
I do love citys at night though i must say!And this here, is my fourty five...

That experience sounds like enough to put you off London for life!
It's easy once you've been here a while though.
