Also remember, unless you have very deep pockets or investors that are currently in the apparel market, and producing overseas... doing something generic typically will not help your case - I would come out of the gate strong with something cool and different and down sell them to the more generic stuff. You need eyeballs to see your clothes, whatever that takes, then you can dictate what you want to show that traffic to.
I'd like to see some of the theme T's and knits from the early 90's come back.
Does anyone remember the Ralph Lauren "Teddy Bear" series? Or the "Snow Beach" series?
Really cool concept as it incorporated a running theme and ensures longevity. (You can continue to pump life into the model line by simply dressing new outfits on the pictured character)
Perhaps combine a retro idea, with a modern fit (but not SKIN TIGHT), and you have a winner, IMO
all of this is good stuff to take into consideration. I always like to hear peoples opinions about stuff and not just go with my first option. I did gained some knowledge from every one of your comments.
Kind regards,
Hustla626

Hustla, there are many different types of hybrids for tees - some of the feedback I got from the focus groups was the comfort, texture and feel of the afflictoin shirts ( being soft ) versus a lot of the other tees... so I look into what made that shirt feel that way, etc.
When it comes to fabrics... ( if you're not just doing tees )... play around with a lot of different styles... go out to textile houses and look through the swatches and really get a feel ( pun intended ) of what you that will work best with your overall design.
Many textile and garment manufacturers will send you the swatches, and even produce your initial prototypes FOR FREE, if you give them the rights to manufacture that garment for you when you start getting orders and distribution.
From that point, once prototypes are done, hire models, photograph, put on your distribution material ( PR, WEB, PRINT, ETC. ) and you're ready to rock!
