Default Need help with shoes - Boat Shoes / Topsiders

I'm going to an event this weekend, it's a party at an upscale bar right next to the beach. It's casual, but upscale, so I'll be wearing a long sleeve button-up shirt with the sleeves partially rolled up and khaki shorts. I am thinking of wearing boat shoes, or topsiders as some call them, and am just looking for some advice. I saw two pairs of shoes tonight that I liked and was wondering which is more "fashionable" or if they're both acceptable. With the first pair, the fact that they're "slip on" reminds me of shoes I wore when I was 7 years old.

    I've heard Sperry is a good brand...true?

I know I look like a doofus in this pic, but here's what I'll be wearing

Damn, really? It's all they sell in the stores around here. Even Men's Warehouse had them for sale. I'm 6'5" so finding shorts that come even close to my knees are difficult :\
