^^^I loved every last word of that. And yes, I think I can tolerate the demands. Reading that just makes me want one more.

thanks for all the positive comments guys, this site has a lot of diverse cars and I'm glad I was able to share mine

and 289FIA, that letter was a fun read. I can relate to the harley comment as well as various folks slowing down and taking pics etc. It really is an experience more than just a car. BTW the one thing that perplexed me was the comment about winter gas on a warm day, what is that referring to ?

    thanks

    Art:

Cobras are all over the US and Canada and the issue is, these are generally, fair weather cars; in California, you could drive EVERY month of the year and I've done it. But in states like Minnesota, Ohio, Colorado, etc., where they pile on the snow, they only get to drive during the summer and fall. So "winterizing" the gas ( a fuel stabilizer when the car is garaged for more than a month ) prevents the fuel from degrading as fast. In regular cars with fuel injection, where we can drive year around, that's never really a big issue. But the stabilizer is still an additive and I believe it reduces the octane a point or so... so when the warm weather returns, you can obviously drive it, but if you get on the throttle hard, you might get some knock until you refuel the tank completely; the trick a few weeks before storage, if you're say 1/4 tank full, add the stabilzer, add fuel to about 1/2 a tank (check if you only need 1/2 a bottle of stabilizer), then drive it until you're down to 1/4 tank again and then write a note and stick it on your dash "1/4 tank; stabilizer; refuel". When the snow is gone and you can drive again, you'll just fill up with 91/92 octane and you should be good.

My experiences never get old with this car.

I've had a Harley chick once say at a gas station, she would prefer my car over the several exotics that surrounded me (Ferrari F430's, Gallardo's, etc.)
I've had a gorgeous girl roll down her windows and ask for a ride!
I always offer kids a chance for a photo op with their parents permission, with them in the seats (sometimes even the parents too!)
I had one guy almost puke and/or shit in his pants because I accelerated way too fast on the streets
I've had a CHP tail a group of us once, doing about 80-90mph and never pulled any of us over.
I''ve had cops come up to me and ask a lot of questions on how much the build was, how long, gotchas, etc.
I did have ONE guy give me the finger. I have no idea what I did to piss him off but I turned towards him and smiled because you know, at the end of the day, you're driving something you love more than the pathetic POS he's driving (I think it was an old Citation). As RAW would say: gotta love haters.

You will have a ton of stories on your own, the more you drive it. Have fun and be very careful with the power; mine is a 347 putting out at least 350HP and 385 ft-lbs of torque; I had it dyno'd prior to the upgraded heads and cam but have not dyno'd since as I'm repairing a radiator leak at this very moment.

The original 1965 Shelby 427 Cobras probably sell between $500K-$1.5million so it's a good assumption any you see nowadays are reproductions. This one in particular is made by a company called Backdraft.

    thanks

We have a local one that is real with quite a history apparently. It was stolen, then killed someone that it hit, then was driven into the river by the thief to get rid of the evidence. It spend 2 years under water, then 10 or 20 years sitting in a garage, then the owner figured no one has come for the car for whatever reason so he restored it and drives it today. I have no clue if it is true or not, but its the story the owner tells.

None the less, your car look beautiful.

Oh, about the HOOTERS reference in the article, it's quite true:

The only problem was, I couldn't drive all 3 of them at once!!!

I know someone in upstate ny that owns a cobra. We met when I was getting out of my 69 camaro at a restaurant and he blew past us revving the engine, the sound was amazing. We followed him to a gas station (eh actually played cat and mouse for a few miles) and greeted him. We now take the camaro out and his cobra out on nice days around the lake. Its an amazing friendship.

Great looking Cobra! That is my "someday car" after I graduate and hopefully find a good job.

black_sky_blur, I am a little confused by your sig. I have never heard of a 350 big block, I've always been under the impression all 350's were small blocks. Is that not the case?
