First Classic?
Hey guys,
Im in the process of looking for a muscle/classic car. I was thinking of this 4dr Chevelle with rebuilt 283 and a rebuilt powerglide for $4k, or a 1967 Mustang I6 (Yes a inline 6) for the same price. They both need paint. Do you think that a 4 door or a I6 will loose value over time? And also, do you guys think its a good deal? Lastly, how could oyu increase the MPG of your classic besides the rear axles? Thanks"The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary"

I don't think either one really ever had any value

What are you looking to do? Are you trying to restore or just build for fun? MPG should never really be an implementation since it's a "classic" meaning it shouldn't be driven too often. However if you are building a fun, daily driver from the said cars, than you have your work cut out for you. I would personally go with a 289 Mustang. Easy to find and parts are plentiful.

From what I understand, both cars are well, I hate to say this but "bottom of the barrel" classics. They're value has appreciated very slowly compared to others in their category. A 289 Mustang will be more expensive but a it's also a better "investment". For MPG, well they're classic engines with carburetors so I can't help you there since fuel injection is as pricy as a new GM crate 350. As a daily driver a stock 289 would do much better than others, (although difficult to find). The more money you put into restoring it to it's original state the more it's worth.
