    Kinda like saying...

"I really dont get using a Colombo V12 in your Ferrari, I mean its an old design and you can get so much more power out of other engines"

Ok to me, saying it has "soul" is just a glorified way of saying it's a pain in the ass on a regular basis.

IMO, there is a big difference between a nice vintage car and making some changes to improve the overall enjoyment of the car. Take Adam Carolla's Muira, with the carbs those cars are a nightmare to deal with and a constant headache. So he got one with a full motec efi system. End result, same car, feel, passion, but it's a dead nuts reliable driver.

Guess at some point there is function in there, not just form. Same reason people love the AMG cars, they just work.

one would not pull the V12 out of a 250 GTO and replace it with a 430 engine just because the 430 engine is "better".

same goes for putting a modern drive train in a 32 Ford. Is it "better"? questionable. Is it the "same" as a flathead? Most certainly not.
