Thumbs down Ford Flex-Terrible Rental Experience but MS Sync is pretty cool.

To preface: I admit I am a Euroslut when it comes to cars. That being said....

Yesterday I needed a bigger car to haul some stuff and the people at the company I usually go to suggested I try the Ford Flex.

It's a "great car". It was fully loaded with Sync and all that makes Ford great.

Turned out to be a terrible car. Driving around LA was a nightmare. Felt like I was driving a lowered minivan with crappy shocks.

To my amazement the tripometer is the same green gauge that Ford has used since my first car, 1988 Mustang.

The automatic shifter had the same crappy feeling that ford has always had.

Now for the good. Being a die hard apple fanboi, I must admit the Microsoft Sync system worked really well. Most voice recognition systems do not work well for me since I have a deep voice and have the "LA mumble".

Easy to use. Had no issues what so ever.
Also there is no gas cap. That was interesting.
Looks like Ford is saving money by not putting on the pointless gas cap when the access to the fuel tank locks with the car doors.

Of course when the rental company drove me home we got in a minor accident and that did not help......
Now they are kissing my ass.

Anyways...To quote the Store Manger..."I guess it's an improvement for Ford". Can't argue with that.

I was always curious about real-world experiences with the sync system. Thanks for the review.

I've heard nothing but good things from people that have bought the Flex. I like the styling and hope Ford gets the first couple year bugs straightened out. Twin Turbo V6 model on its way.

I am sure the rental Flex was about $10,000 short on options.

Fully Loaded. I go to a boutique rental.
    Not a Hertz.
