For me, the Viper is to Dodge what the Cobra was to Ford except it had a longer shelf life! Loved the first one I ever saw in the wild back around 1993 or 94'. It was dark green and driven by a very wealthy landowner of many parts of Silicon Valley; if you've ever heard of " Perry-Arrillaga " in front of business buildings to be leased, you know they seem to own half the valley.

It was John Arrillaga's newly minted Viper I saw and probably an apt car for this person. When he's in business mode, you may as well dispense with pleasantries - I get the impression he works as hard as he plays. But if you work as hard as he does, he rewards much as well. That was my first impression of him. But it's the Viper I will remember more.

The Viper is an American Icon. I really hope it survives the Detroit mess.

The early cars are looking a bit dated now. They looked so sleek back in the day, I had a 96 GTS with the Roe Racing supercharger, loved that car but it was rough around the edges to say the least!

I think they still look amazing even today.. in many ways I prefer the older style to the new SRT models.

I agree! A GTS is anything but dated.

Rough around the edges, well yeah with ~500 ft/lbs of torque from what, 1200rpm stock, it's not exactly a well mannered babysitter, but it was never meant to be.

One of my favorite cars of all time!
