well how did u deal with it when the gas hit 4+?
When you can pull 0-60 in a 3K weight car..... who cares Actually in city if I play nice with the skinny pedal I would get between 14-17 mpg and on highway between 20-23mpg. However, I drive pretty hard and use the autostick frequently so in city get about 14mpg.

I sat in one at the SF car show. It was nicer than I expected. My sister had a '70 Challenger 383 Magnum once upon a time. I have a soft spot for those cars and the new interpretation evokes the right memories.

That 0-60 time you posted is very impressive for the money!

I like the challenger. Black with matte black stripes or white with black stripes FTW!

I ended up next to one on the freeway yesterday. Hard to miss it since it was a Hemi Orange one. Sounded pretty decent. But, damn it's a biiiiiiiiiig car!! I wish I could of gotten pics.

for size comparison, I pulled this off another forum. I own a same bodystyle Mustang as the Cobra, so you can probably guess my amazement over the size.

I personally dig the heck out the SRT8.

Is it big? yep
Is it fast? yep
Does it handle? after a fashion
Is it the modern incarnation of what a Muscle Car should be? Hell yes.

Its not a sports car, its a MUSCLE CAR. There is a difference. That being said, its not a 60's-70's muscle car, its a modern muscle car. Its everything the cars from the 60's and 70's promised but never really delivered. It can handle pretty well for its size. I've had the chance to take one out on Laguna Seca and spank it pretty hard. It will surprise you with how well it handles when pushed. Again, its a big car so dont expect sports car handling, but in its market segment and for the money its not bad. I suspect there is a TON that can be done to make it handle a TON better. Its set up as a stop light racer or Blvd. Cruiser. Some good shocks and beefier suspension bits would compromise the smooth ride, but give a more positive feel in the corners.

My only gripe with the car has already been mentioned...the dash. Its a parts bin special. Nearly the same as the Magnum dash. It should have been something special. If they are going to use the same dash at least give it some special covering, different colored gauges or SOMETHING to set it apart. I understand the cost engineering involved... but come on.

All in all a very good car for the price.

I've driven the 5.7L (auto trans) version. It still feels like a heavy car in spite of the electronics that try to hide it. It rides ok, it's fast, but I was underwhelmed. Maybe I would have had more fun with the manual trans one, but they didn't have any in stock at the time.

I think it was a mistake to make it that heavy.

I had high hopes for this car... in certain colors and trim levels it has a rental car look about it. Especially with the smaller wheels and big buffalo tires.

The sheer mass of this car is amazing. I was shocked when I pulled up next to one at a light while driving my GS- when I turned my head my eyeballs were squarely at the same height as the Challenger door handle.
In the NSX I would have been looking up at the Challenger - big time.

Not exactly what I expected from a Muscle Car in terms of size and proportions. The car seems too tall, with a too-high waistline.

Lowered about a foot on big wheels, it looks pretty damn good.
Saw a few at SEMA I would rock!
