I've been up to 140mph in my 2012 GT, and it felt fine. Granted, I've taken a Civic up to 160mph on the autobahn in Germany when I was stationed there, so my judgment may be a little "nuttier" than most. These new Mustangs are a huge improvement...a year ago I wouldn't have even considered a domestic, test driving the 3 new muscle cars changed my mind.

This is how you hit 200mph+ in a 4-door on the autobahn, I hope :0 and no track and no heat soak issues with this 7 year old V10.

This might not be a vbox time but its def 200mph+---- Just sayin but great improvement on the Mustang.

What does a car that is almost twice the price of the Mustang, designed for the autobahn, considerably heavier and geared for higher speeds have anything to do with a new Mustang? --- Just saying...

It shows that Ford went above and beyond what you'd expect from a Mustang. Sure 200 was hit on a rolling road in Italy, but with some aftermarket parts, you could hit that going down an airport straight. Aftermarket exhaust, bigger supercharger and some focus on heat, you could do it easy. The GT500 has some heating issues, so if you spent some money on lowering engine bay temps, it will help top speed.

Also you act surprised at the fact that a claim made from a manufacturer may or may not be true. Like this is the first time this has happened? ALL manufacturers do this. For awhile a big thing was false horsepower claims, false EPA claims, etc etc. Until you have driven one of these new cars I don't think anyone has ANY room to talk about how crappy it is because you simply don't know. If the car couldn't handle it, they wouldn't be giving it to editors to lap around a track at nearly 200mph. These new Fords are obviously leaps and bounds ahead of their predecessors and still remain one of the all around fastest cars you can get from 30-50k. Hands down.

I am just saying that Ford shouldn't claim this as there sales gimmick..... They should stick to their "best bang for your buck" because you will have drivers out there that will be trying to hit 200mph and most likely causing harm. The M5 is just a 200mph+ beast that shows what a well engineered motor is all about--Just saying....

Man I hate to admit it...but I agree with my man PIP...even though he's not being very nice about it :-/ hahaha (PIP has an old Ford, so don't listen to him!)

But...It's a bad-ass affordable car, and i WOULD try to go 200mph in one of these things...it's probably safer than an old Diablo or similar "super car" from the late '90's - early 2000's.

What is wrong with it being a Ford?

It's an impressive machine no matter what the make, it's stupid to hate on something because it's from Ford. What kind of auto enthusiast hates a Ford? So much history, pioneering the automotive industry, thriving in a tough economy, those are all things that should gain praise.

I am saying not it's a 100k lux car, nor am I saying I would prefer it over say, a 911. I don't even see the need to argue a point because all I see is just biased ignorance with a lot of people who blindly hate domestics.

You know there is a lot more to going 200mph than just having a "well engineered" motor. Not to mention the M5 is governed at 155 so obviously BMW doesn't want everyone trying to go 200mph.

Aren't all cars governed is the NA? Just saying.....And aren't tuners around to delimit the governors?
