Default Carroll Shelby Tribute on Sat. 5/26 (pics).

This had to be one of the largest car gatherings for a single person that I've ever seen in the SF Bay Area. It will likely be eclipsed in August at Laguna Seca, but for now, this was a very nice way to pay respect to a legend. Hundreds of cars that represented the "genre" of Shelby Cars were 99.9% represented: Mustang Cobra's, Roadster Cobra's, GT-40's, a Daytona, and Sunbeam Tigers. Post Ford era cars included a GLH (Challenger), a Shelby Pickup Truck, a Series 1, and of course, Vipers. The only thing not seen was the obscure 'Turd' but that's back in a museum I believe, in Riverside.

I think the coolest thing for me was seeing people I know from both the Cobra world and from the Luxury4Play and even a few eGarage people. I was blown away of how diverse this crowd could be, yet it all comes back to all of us being automobile enthusiasts at our core, regardless of what we like to drive (or dream of driving.) Enjoy these photos. I'm sure in the days to come more photos from this tribute will surface; search for "San Jose Mercury News Carroll Shelby Tribute".

The first two shots are stiched together from Photoshop as I was trying to give people a sense of just how many cars and people there were. My estimate was easily 300.

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing. He was hands down one of the most influential men in the automotive world, and will greatly be missed.

Received my poster a couple of days ago and framed it; gives you a "birds-eye" view of the event. On the actual poster, I was able to discern 290 Shelby relevant vehicles; some way in the back were hard to separate and of course, the tree blocked out some others. My original guess was 300 that day and it appears that's likely how many showed up.
